Reading the Real – French Realisms after the Nouveau Roman?
Taking my point of departure in the generic uncertainty of Louis Aragon’s metafictional novels from the 1960s, I will examine the “limits of Realism” in contemporary French literature. Can new ironic forms in contemporary works by François Bon and Jacques Jouet be considered as – more or less activist – ways of challenging the reader’s apprehension of the real?
